The making of Ibaraki, by Clint Steele

Hi again, I'm on a roll tonight!

While working on his piece for Spare Parts, artist Clint Steele took some photos to share...

The title of the piece is "Ibaraki". It was a crowd favourite, and yes it sold, and has a new home and a new owner. Hurrah!

Materials: Prosthetic arm donated by La Trobe University, Wood, Origami Paper, Liquid Acrylic and Red Rope.

As you know, Adam Hills from ABC TV's Spicks and Specks donated an old leg to Spare Parts.

The gorgeous Patience Hodgson from Brisbane band The Grates did the artwork, and it is amazing!

I have attached a picture for you, and Patience has called it "A Venutian Leg Up". The materials used are a prosthetic leg, fake finger nails, ping pong balls, acrylic paint, and glue.

If you'd like to take Adam's leg home you can place a bid in the silent auction!

The reserve price is $1500, so your bid must be $1500+. You can text your bid to 0406 706 407 or email it to contact@spareparts2010.com. The auction ends TODAY!

The highest bidder will be notified on the 7thDecember 2010. Profit from this auction will be donated to COPE in Laos. For more information on COPE you can go to www.copelaos.org

Some late night inspiration...

Hey everyone!

Today is my 5 year amputation anniversary! I like to celebrate this day every year, to remember my leg and reflect on the changes in my life - all for the better.

To extend my celebration, I'd like to share a great Ted Talk with you tonight-

Aimee Mullins is such an inspiration to me, and this talk in particular was a huge inspiration for Spare Parts!

Mr Chips Goes To Washington by Giles Kilham

Hey everyone!

I know there are a lot of people following the exhibition that are not in Brisbane and can't make it along to the Powerhouse. I'd hate for you to miss out on seeing some of the pieces, and also purchasing any that you are interested in!!

You may have seen this amazing artwork on The 7pm Project last night!!!!

The artist is Giles Kilham of Brisbane, and the prosthetic arm was donated by La Trobe University in Melbourne.

The title is "Mr Chips Goes To Washington" and to purchase this will set you back a mere $666.00

Materials: Prosthetic arm, clay, milliput, sculpty, Selley's spakfilla, squadron putty, liquid nails, super glue, wood, wood stain, fabric for the fringes/edging bit, hobby grass for train set, hobby gravel for train set (used for texture on arm), miniature people for train set, tamiya paints, twine, screws, fabric studs, strains of human beard (artist's own), blood, sweat, tears.
